Project LYDIA – Neutone leaps into the hardware world!
Recent Posts

We’re excited to share that Neutone has officially made the leap into hardware.
Yesterday at Audio Developer Conference (ADC) 2025, we unveiled Project LYDIA, a new collaborative project with Roland Future Design Lab.
LYDIA is a DIY AI effects box that can host trainable AI models — a step toward bringing the long-standing DIY spirit of music creation into the age of AI.
This first prototype features a live-performance-optimized version of our real-time timbre-transfer engine Neutone Morpho, capable of transforming incoming sounds (a voice into a violin, a guitar into percussion, and more) in real time.
From the very beginning of the Neutone project, turning our AI engine into a physical instrument has been a dream. We believe that for artists to fully embrace AI — a technology that can easily feel like a black box — it needs to be something you can touch, twist, tinker, and play.
Combined with our custom model training service, LYDIA marks an important step toward a future where artists can build their own deeply personal, wonderfully “misusable” AI instruments.
A huge thank you to the team at Roland Future Design Lab and to everyone on the Neutone team who made this possible!!!
